This morning I rode with some of the other riders out to Mission Beach (actually back out there for me, as that is how I came into San Diego yesterday from La Jolla south to Mission Bay). I did the ceremonial dip of my bake tire into the Pacific Ocean. (I actually later dip both tires, while pointing the bike east right after the picture was taken.)
Several other riders walked down to the beach to officially start this ride at the Pacific Ocean. Sure it was and easy and relaxing day, and my last day to spend with Patricia until the evening of October 2nd in Tybee Island, GA. I'm going to really miss her; and her support is the main reason I am on this ride.On Sunday, the real riding begins. It will cover 126.1 miles and have 7400' of climbing. You might as well start out with a bang. I promise to fill in more details on the ride of Day ONE (it was an interesting and fun ride), and be more detailed for each day from now on.
Thanks for reading.
